Bhoothathankettu is a dam situated 65km far from Cochin. It is a tourist point and past generation believes it was made by bhootam (monster) as its name describe. Near to Dam you can find boating, horse riding, children park and small restaurant. Later you may proceed to Thattekkad bird Sanctuary. The main activity is bird watching. Thattekkad bird sanctuary receive excellent climate round the year ranging between 10 to 25 °C and do not receive much rains. This sanctuary is thickly covered by forest and wide variety of trees can be find here. The sanctuary is a home to more than 500 species of exotic birds. It is a safe heaven for feathered creatures due to moderate climate and thickly woody. It is a paradise for bird watcher, morning or evening time is perfect to visit the sanctuary.
